Departmental Overview

The main objectives of Department of CS & IT are:

  • 1. A breadth of knowledge in different areas of IT and computer science which include theoretical foundations and fundamentals of computer systems and software systems.
  • 2. To enhance skills in: Knowledge and understanding of major paradigms of programming (declarative, imperative, and object-oriented), program design; networks and communications; data bases, scientific computing underlying mathematical disciplines including logic and discrete mathematics; artificial intelligence.
  • 3. To give the knowledge and skills necessary to participate as effective team members or team leaders in the development of large computer and software systems covering a broad range of engineering and scientific applications.
  • 4. To equip with communication skills, both oral and written, to become effective team-oriented problem solvers as well as effective communicators with non-technical stakeholders in computer and software systems development, maintenance, and administration.
  • 5. Apply fundamental theory and practical methods to construct software systems.
  • 6. To prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills to do advanced studies and research in computer science and related engineering and scientific disciplines.

Mission

The mission of Department of Computer Science & IT is to provide a specific set of the computing body of knowledge, technical and soft skills with particular emphasis on those areas which are at the time of delivery considered as core for a career in the profession.
