Strategic Achievements as Vice Chancellor

  • Refurbished the University Environment & Governance structure.
  • Developed, for the first time, Vision & Mission of the University.
  • Launched "Biometric Attendance System" to ensure the faculty/staff attendance.
  • Regulated/streamlined the Faculty/Staff.
  • Ensured all basic facilities for students & staff at the campus.
  • Striving to establish quality and excellence in all fields of teaching, learning, research and innovation.
  • Attempting to bridge the gaps between academia/industry.
  • Promoting the research culture and innovation.
  • Developed a highly dynamic university website www.gudgk.edu.pk.
  • Established Video Conference Room and ensued up-gradation of Multipurpose Hall
  • Launched a pro-active online admission system to ensure the transparency.
  • Conducted Nine International/National Conferences.
  • Efforts have been made to provide conducive environment for the faculty/staff and students.
  • Advertised almost 400 teaching/non-teaching positions and recruitment process is going-on.

  • 5th Meeting of Syndicate 11th November 2020.
  • Syndicate approved 59 new Departments, 171 new degree programs, and a Skill Development Center to offer 20 short courses.

Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life.

Meetings of University Selection Board

The Meetings of the University Selection Board were held in Video Conference Hall during 18th to 20th July 2020. In these meetings, interviews were conducted for the posts of Professors and Associate Professors in different departments. It is pertinent to mention here that since the inception of the University, 1st ever the meetings of Selection Board were convened to recruit regular faculty members.

  • Hired twenty-six (26) fresh PhDs as Assistant Professors on IPFP-HEC project each along-with a start-up project of about 0.5 million through a highly competitive mechanism involving rigorous evaluation.
  • Record number of publications published by GU faculty, almost 105 during 2019 and almost 173 during 2020.
  • A record enrolment of students during Fall-2019 and Fall-2020 in the history of University.

Conducted the 2nd and 3rd Meetings of Academic Council

Conducted the 2nd and 3rd Meetings of Academic Council and streamlined many pending academic issues.

  • Up-coming (4th) Meeting of Academic Council has been scheduled to be held on 29-12-2020
  • Curricula of the University have been revised.
  • Academic Calendar has been approved to streamline the academic activities of the University.

Launched “Smart University & Safe Campus Project”

Launched “Smart University & Safe Campus Project” to ensure security/internet connectivity throughout campus with support of HEC.

  • Project “Clean & Green Campus” under PM’s initiative has been launched, over 8000 ornamental/shady plants have been raised/transplanted in the University nursery.
  • MOU signed with NESPAK for designing & supervision of construction work for two HEC-funded Projects.

Revenue Generated

  • Students’ Cafeteria was rented out from 58,000/- year to one million during the year 2019 and 2.6 M during the year 2020.
  • The house allotments and electricity charges of various university have been regularized.
  • University residences have been vacated from outsiders.
  • An amount of Rs. 100,000/Month has been saved by introducing Bio-Metric Attendance System, for DPL employees.
  • Established University Farm of about 30 Acres & an income of Rs. 3,75,000/- has been generated during 2019-20.

Established "E-Rozgaar Centre

Established "E-Rozgaar Centre" under the "Chief Minister Training E-Rozgaar Programme” to provide online job opportunities to students and public.

Wheat Production at University Farms

Under guidance of the Vice Chancellor and supervision of the Farm Manager, this year there was excellent wheat crop at University Farms. The Wheat crop was grown at about 30 acres of land. Other crops & vegetables are also grown for experimentation of the postgraduate students.

Establishment of Pakistan’s First Corona Quarantine Center.

The GU as part of its integrated efforts to combat with COVID-19 extended its full cooperation and the buildings of the GU situated near Airport were immediately handed over to District Administration and converted into COVID-19 Quarantine Centers with all facilities available there.

Establishment of Corona Coordination Desk

To assist the District Administration and the general masses, the University established Corona Coordination Desks at the CORONA COVID-19 Quarantine Centre comprising four senior faculty members with supporting staff. The members of the Desk worked round the clock to assist the District Administration.

Measures Adopted to Combat COVID-19

  • Message by the Vice Chancellor was aired about the outbreak of COVID-19 and its precautionary measures.
  • Corona Awareness Guidelines have been shared with GU community through social media & university website.
  • Financial Contribution of faculty and staff in Campaign against COVID-19 in form of one-day basic salary.  
  • GU Volunteer Teams, of faculty & students helped the needy people, financially disturbed due to lockdown.
  • The campus and hostels of the university were immediately closed after declaration of Covid-19.
  • In the University premises there is no entry of any faculty, staff & visitors without wearing face mask and hand sanitizers have been provided in various premises.

Launching of E-Learning System/Online

The GU in a very short time launched the Learning Management System (LMS) for providing online teaching facility to the students through MS Team . More than 1000 courses’ materials have been uploaded. The following steps have been taken in E-Learning System.

  • Training of Faculty for On-line Teaching
  • Commencement of Online Classes w.e.f. 1st June 2020.
