Departmental Overview

The Department of Animal Sciences offers under graduate courses as minor subject in agriculture sciences. At present, the courses offered are 1). Introduction to Animal Husbandry (AH-301) with three credits and 2). Veterinary Preventive Medicine (VMD-202) with two credits.

Vision

We will strive to get identify this department at local and at national level by extending knowledge and education in Animal Sciences for the sustainable production of food animals as well as poultry through innovative and interactive approaches in teaching and learning. The students will be facilitated to gain leadership qualities and become responsible citizens having a knowledge base of the feeding, breeding and management of domestic animals and chickens.

Mission

Our mission is to communicate and train students about significance of animal products, their role in gross domestic product (GDP) and export as well as impact on society and environment. The mission delivery is directed to students of Ghazi University, teachers in department, stockholders, technical and scientific people and all those who are concerned with animals used for food and other diverse purposes.

Why Study Here?

Animal scientists help put food on our tables. Animal Science is concerned with foods of animal origin: meat, dairy foods, and eggs as well as aspects of companion animals, including their nutrition, care, and welfare. Animal science major or degree program provides the necessary background and qualification (with a general knowledge and education about the field of Animal Science) so that the student can find a specific and tailor-made job that suits his or her career interests.
